1. Zangero

The Zanjero, sometimes known as the Water Overseer or Water Steward, was the official in charge of water management for the city of Los Angeles in the 19th century

Responsibility

1. Run all day and evening Zanjero runs with very few callbacks and lateral regulation. 

2. Receive and record irrigation water delivery orders for agricultural customers. 

3. Make water deliveries by turning the water on and off from the main canal to lateral and sublateral pipelines. 

4. Must be able to open and close gate valves, surge gates and canal gates by pulling, turning, or twisting with torque in excess of 250 FT. pounds. 

5. Set valves, checks meters, and measure water flow, making necessary adjustments to correct for surges, excess water, and low water levels. 

6. Note equipment malfunctions on the delivery system, making immediate repairs where necessary or reporting the malfunction so repairs can be made by repair crews. 

7. Meet with farmers and irrigators to discuss water delivery problems and complaints. May make immediate adjustments to resolve complaints or refer the problem to Zanjero’s Supervisor.

2. Zoning Engineers 

They perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbours, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems

3. Zoologist

A Zoologist, or Research Zoologist, is responsible for studying a wide variety of animal species and how they interact with themselves and their environments. 

Their duties include planning animal care needs like feeding schedules or habitat conditions, overseeing a team of professionals in administering daily care to animals and conducting research projects to learn more about a particular species.

In order to excel in the position, the person should possess a few critical traits such as being able to plan and organize, as well as be observant with good attention to detail and have the ability to record and analyze data.  

Responsibilities 

  • Studying animal behaviours, habits and characteristics
  • Designing and completing research projects to study animals

4. Zoo Keepers

Zookeepers look after animals in zoos, wildlife parks and safari parks. They care for a diverse range of animals from large and dangerous to rare and exotic.

  • cleaning enclosures and changing bedding
  • preparing food and feeding the animals
  • making sure animal enclosures are as close to natural conditions as possible
  • checking animals for illness or injury and helping to treat them when they are not well
  • carrying out basic maintenance on animal enclosures to ensure the safety of animals and visitors
  • patrolling the park, making sure visitors are safe and the animals are not disturbed
  • helping to breed animals
  • responsible for a particular section of the zoo or park or for certain types of animals, such as primates or reptiles
  • answering questions from visitors and giving talks to schoolchildren and others.

4. Zoology Teacher 

They create engaging lessons in the various subfields of biology, like genetics and zoology, and also handle admin tasks and supervise experiments.

1. Conduct lectures for students at school, college, and university level

2. Teach biology science to the students by explaining the complex subject matter and answering their queries.

3. Provide coaching to the students to acquire knowledge in specialized biology branches – molecular biology, marine biology, botany, zoology, etc.

4. Prepare teaching aids with the help of charts or PPT presentations to help the students understand the intricacies of the subject in a simple manner

5. Gather samples, and conduct experiments to give live examples to the students while teaching the curriculum
